Alex Fernandez,
"Guapo"
San Diego

Noel..

Christmas is coming again......
I always get really down at Christmas, I have for years. During these past couple of years especially, when I was away from my family, and at times, not necessarily very happy. I can't believe another year has come and gone. Time seems to be moving faster and faster all the time. What do I want to accomplish in the new year....hmmm....that's going to take some thinking.

Taking one day at a time here in lovely Portales. The weather is really dreary at the moment. Not looking forward to winter. I interviewed for a job with the university. Should be hearing something here before long. Working will be great.

Viva la Leslie!

If you ever go to Austin, you'll most likely see the homeless guy in the thong and tiara on Congress Avenue. Leslie, an Austin icon, is a homeless cross-dresser who once ran for mayor, and came in second! You can probably find Leslie now, standing in front of One American Center in bad makeup, pink Spandex and stacked heels. For some time, the Downtown Austin Alliance has tried to get Leslie off the corner in front of One American Center because his lacy black thong, high heels and a bodaciously padded halter top clash with the high rise's image.

Leslie's like Madonna. He can go by one name, and you still know who he is. Recently, an independent polling organization found that in terms of commercial branding, Leslie had the highest recognizability quotient in the city. No commercial entity even came close.

Sanctus....

I've spent the last couple days hanging out with my friend Patrick. patrick makes me be a good Catholic.....Patrick's not just Catholic, he's CATHOLIC! I told him yesterday that he was either a Saint or a lunatic, which thankfully he thought was funny rather than offensive. So, I've had a spiritual enema these last couple of days. It's been great, just what I needed. I was really letting being in Portales get to me and make me miserable. Today is Sunday. We went to Mass this morning. He took me to Confession (yikes!) and mass last night. I feel like the Whore of Babylon compared to this man....lol. For those of you who aren't familiar with The Whore...check her out in the Book of Revelations.

I don't have any pressing plans today, just some Internet time, then reading. Working on another Anne Rice book, "Cry to Heaven." I don't like talking about book plots and characters, so i'll leave it up to anyone who's interested to read it for themselves. Excellent book.
